Lauren's Grocery Bag Holder

Made this & sent it to Lauren last week to hold her plastic grocery bags so she can reuse them. She had picked out the fabric before the wedding but ran out of time to make it. I started with a fat quarter and didn't even use it all. There's a casing at the top & bottom for 1/4" elastic. Then I added the ribbon in the side seam to hang it. Easy... no pattern. A pretty way to recycle!

It's Hot!!!

It's so hot that I decided to change the Christmas decorations on my blog and put something more summery.  I don't think I ever posted this photo.  Remember the lunchbag I made for Jordann?  Well, she cut the legs off some of her jeans and I made these lunchbags for Glenn.  I didn't spend too much time on them because lots of the things I send with him never come home.  lol...  I just sewed the cut end shut, boxed the bottom, & added a button/elastic closure.  I tried to the the side seams on one of them but that didn't work out too well.  So far we still have both of them!  BTW, yesterday someone ran into the back of Glenn's car while he was at a stop light.  Didn't hurt anyone but the back bumper is cracked & the car's in the shop now.  He's driving a Kia!

My Needle Book & Tomatoes!

Well, I sat down today to make another lavender sachet and ended up with a needle book.  Not quite sure how that happened.  I had been admiring some needle books on Etsy ( Pretty Birdie Needle Book - 3, No 2, and No 1.

I made this in about 30 minutes without really measuring anything or having a plan when I started.  I just used up scraps and the thread I had on the machine.  It was fun & relaxing not to follow a pattern for a change.

Now maybe I can keep up with my needles.  Family members have been loosing a lot of buttons lately!

Lavender Sachets & A Freebie for Anyone Who Knits

I hadn't made any sachets in a long time.  I think I sold all the ones I made in my Etsy shop.  But I still had some lavender buds left over so I pulled out some of my calendar towels.  I found some with a lot of wear on the edges but a lot of useable fabric so I made one little sachet.  I love the texture of this towel.  
I have to clean house today but I'm gonna try to sew more this afternoon.  Here's the freebie:
I guess my latest swap buddy mixed up my info.  I told her I crocheted & she sent me some knitting supplies.  I've tried knitting before and decided to just stick with crocheting.  So, if you can use these let me know and I'll mail them to you.  Let me know if you want one or both.

Shopping on Saturday

I bought another dress today.  Jordi & Glenn like it better than the navy one.  Lauren hasn't seen it yet.  Best of all, I bought it at TJ Maxx for $100 less than the price tag!  I saved so much money that I bought Jordann another sewing book.  (With my 50% off coupon, of course!)

And another thing I was going to share with you... one of the reasons I got so much crocheting done last week was the Andy Griffith Show marathon.  Still one of my favorite TV shows.  I know there are other AG fans out there.  Have y'all seen him in the Brad Paisley music video?  Take a look here.  It didn't win the CMT video award, but it's the one I voted for.  :-)

Sewing!

SE just asked me a question about sewing today and started off by saying, "I don't know when the last time was that you sewed...."  Well, it was just last night.  Glenn went to Sacramento for a conference & Jo had a sleepover.  So I stayed home & did some sewing, crocheting, & played with PSE.  (BTW, I sent the Scripture photos to Walgreens & picked them up this morning and they look GREAT even printed!)  Here's what I made:Jo has been wanting a fabric lunch bag for a while now.  She keeps showing me her favorites on Etsy.  I bought this fabric last year at the thrift store & have been keeping it and a few others with retro patterns in my stash for projects like this.

I used some velcro with sticky back, just 'cause that's what I had.  But my needle won't go through it so I may pull it off & replace with a piece of elastic & button.  If you'd like to make one, here's the pattern I used.  This was a FREE project for me.  So we'll save a little money and some trees!
There are also a lot of fabric snack & sandwich bags on Etsy.  Look at this seller.  I may try some little bags, too, for her.  Stay tuned!

Hard to believe it's May already! I think graduations are going to take up most of our time for the next month. I did a little rearranging in my room and moved my bird from my desk to the hall table. She's now nesting by my Scrabble collage.

L has some friends over to watch scary movies. I expect the screaming to start at any time now... One of Glenn's friends called this afternoon & wanted to know if he could use tickets to the baseball game tonight -- A's & Rangers. Of course! He & J went with 2 other friends.

Tomorrow morning we're in the Walk for Life. J raised over $300!!! And L is volunteering to get some of her Senior project hours in. I'm just walking for moral support. :-)

Here's a coaster I made last year in May. I've been using it ever since. Guess I should make some with other months on them.

OK, I'm still not sure just what to call these. I've heard them called all of the above. I've tried to include all of the words in the titles of the little ones I've been listing on Etsy.

I haven't decided if I'm going to keep this one or not. It's a comination of old and new fabrics and reversable. They're sewn to bias tape. So, what cha think?
