It was a beautiful, sunny morning at our house but we could see snow on top of Mt. Diablo. So we decided to hike up to it. We drove up and parked just above the Junction. The first photo was what it looked like there. Still nice and sunny but much colder than at home.
Of course, had to take our self portrait! You can see the snow in the background. The snow started at about the 2800' level. We made it!!!
There was a lot of snow up there and I've never seen so many people on the mountain. The road was closed at Juniper campgrounds so the road from there to the summit was filled with people & dogs walking, throwing snowballs at each other, pushing strollers, and pulling sleds!
We hiked back down on the north side. Not as much snow here but MUCH colder. We saw rain in the distance so started walking faster. At one point I told Glenn one of the clouds looked like a wall cloud. We laughed. Then when we got home our neighbor told us we were in a tornado watch!

Snow and My Very Popular Fingerless Gloves
The relatives in Montana are probably going to get a good laugh out of this post. But this was really exciting for California. We had snow down to the 200 foot level in places. Usually it only snows on top of Mt. Diablo and we just have to look at it. But there was even a little flurry when I came home from work yesterday. The picture above is Jo's school and the foothills behind it. I love this photo 'cause you can see the palm tree in front of the snow.
When I went through the snow/sleet/rain mix on the way home yesterday I called Jo to see if she wanted a ride but she was already home. She wanted to drive around so I picked her up & we drove to Clayton. The picture above is Mt. Diablo, but you can't even see it for the low clouds. In fact, all these are just the foothills. It was too cloudy to see the top. Glenn has photos from earlier in the day on his Facebook if you want to see them.
Jo's getting a pretty good aim. I heard she hit Stephen with a snowball at school & she would have hit me with this one if I hadn't stepped out of the way.
And here's a picture of my gloves. Every time I wear these I have someone else ask me to make them a pair. So, between that and the other things I'm making for Christmas (some of them were requested, too) I may not be blogging much. Yes, I'm having people ASK me to crochet things for them for Christmas... so there, Ebay! There are still a few items in my Crochet shop and lots of ornaments in my original shop.

Turkeys in the Snow & Lauren's Home!!!
This has been an eventful week! Lauren arrived Tuesday. Glenn had to work (extra rehearsals... this is also the week before the Christmas program!) so he didn't get to come to the airport but we did bring Elizabeth. Notice how we're all bundled up with our winter coats, scarves, gloves, etc, and Lauren's just wearing a sweatshirt!I really think this is the coldest week we've had since moving to Northern California! We even had a couple of days of snow on the mountains. Before Lauren came home, Jo & I were sitting in the living room watching TV when we heard a loud noise -- like someone was trying to get in our house. We looked outside and there were four HUGE turkeys walking down our sidewalk and two more on the roof! I think they slid down to get off. This is the only picture that turned out. And they were REALLY big. Reminded me of the raptors in Jurassic Park! :-) Scary! Yes, we really do live in the city even though we have turkeys & raccoons trying to get in our house.
