Christmas Decorating Has Begun!

The Thanksgiving guests just left and the TG/fall decorations have been put up.  There are still leftovers but they'll be taken care of tomorrow.  Either frozen or turned into soups or prepared for sandwiches for the coming week.

As soon as I get up from the computer I'm going up to the attic to start pulling out decorations!  Jordi can't wait!

Today the guys went into SF to visit Chinatown and the girls went shopping.  We went to downtown WC, Trader Joe's, K-Mart, and thrift stores, stopping at Starbuck's for a drink in between.  I was really impressed with their decorations this year.  I LOVED this yarn ball wreath.  I'm sure I have enough extra yarn to make one like this!  We'll see if I can get it done before this Christmas.

I will be posting photos of some of our Christmas crafts and I am planning an Advent Calendar tutorial as requested by my sister.  Just let me recover from TG & get the tree up first.  :-)

The last of the Thanksgiving Crafts...

Jo thought Meowie needed a Thanksgiving turkey, too, so she made up this one out of felt and even put a little catnip in it.  The cat LOVES it.  She also made a piece of pumpkin pie so even though my post is "The LAST of the TG Crafts" there may be more pictures later.  Next week I'll start showing you what we're making for Christmas!

One of Jo's projects this week was to polish the silver.  She thought it would be easier if our silverware was out on the counter and our cooking utensils where in the drawer.  So she switched them for me.
She found some leftover veggie cans I was saving for craft projects and used them.  Yesterday I covered them with some of my fall scrapbook papers.  I just cut a 4" strip and attached it to the can with double-stick tape.

The family made it here late last night.  I haven't even seen them yet.  And now I (& Glenn) have to go to work so Jo is entertaining them today.

Give Thanks to the Lord...

I thought I'd share this little craft with you.  We had Thanksgiving dinner at our friend's house last year.  She & her kids had done a lot of little projects and I took pictures of a lot of them so I'll probably share more with you later.  This would be an easy project for you and/or your kids.  Get some candles from the dollar store.  This tag was printed on the computer & cut out with shaped scissors, but you could also stamp or write it yourself.  Then tie on the tag with ribbon.  Sprinkle a few fall leaves down the middle of the table, add several candles, and you have a fall centerpiece!

Today I'm thankful for my job.  (Which is also why I didn't post yesterday -- someone was sick & I had to fill in.)  It's not the most exciting job in the world but I've decided to not complain about it and instead focus on the good things & be thankful!  Many people in our area are being laid off.  But the economy hasn't affected our oncology office yet.  Still BUSY!!!  We are getting 2-3 new patients a DAY and we're running out of space.
I like the people I work with (that's a big THANK YOU, GOD), most days I get off at 1, most weeks I have Tuesday off, but I have the flexibility to work a few more hours when it's really busy or when someone doesn't come in (and I get paid by the hour so sometimes that really helps out), and probably the best part is when I leave the office I don't take home any work.  Poor Glenn has been on his computer at least an hour each night this week working from home.
