SF Friday, Berkeley Today

I just realized that I hadn't shared photos from last Friday.  We had special visitors from Texas!  Actually, they were staying in Napa.  She'd never been to SF before so we met in the city Friday afternoon.  It was very cool and windy as you can tell by the photos.  We walked around Union Square for a while and went to The Cheesecake Factory.  I don't think you can tell from the photo above but I was trying to get Tiffany's right between them.  :-)

We had a great table.  (The Cheesecake Factory is on top of Macy's and overlooks the square.)  We had a visitor while we were there.  We were very glad there was a glass wall between us.  He looked hungry!

Today Karen, little Hannah, and I went to Berkeley.  K hadn't been able to make our other shopping trips.  So we hit the usual shops (Anthropologie, The Paper Source, and Scrapbook Territory) Wow, was I tempted to buy some new papers!  I ended up only buying 2 flocked papers.  I didn't have any flocked paper so of course I needed those!  lol...  We ate lunch at Bette's Oceanview Diner.  I guess some buildings had been built.  We couldn't see the ocean.  But we had some HUGE pieces of pizza with eggplant, onions, and bell peppers on it.  Mmmmmm......

Then we tried out a new store I'd heard about in Oakland -- East Bay Depot.  WOW!  It was a cross between a thrift store, stamp store, fabric store...  I think everything is donated.  They have some new items but lots of old, used stuff, too.  A local rubber stamp store recently closed and donated all their stamps and pad.  They were 50c to $1.00 each.  Although I don't think they even charged me that much.  When you check out they don't add up anything.  She just looked at what I had and told me it was $5.50.  I also bought some glass test tubes, old office supplies, and about 6 yards of cotton fringe.  No, I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but everyone reading this will probably get a Christmas present with fringe on it this year!

Oh, yeah, Memorial Day.  We went over to some friends' house for a BBQ.  Had to wear our jackets.  J & I went shopping & bought her a skirt and sweater instead of a dress.  I feel better about that.  I know she'll wear them more.  L & her friends hiked up the mountain and then went swimming in our pool.  They took some pretty amazing photos that you can see on her blog.

Back to work tomorrow.  I'll probably have to work late to catch up since I haven't been there for four days.

LOL on all that fringe! SF looks like fun, I haven't been there since I was about 18! (in other words a LONG time!) The stores in Berkely sound great, esp your "new" store! I love a bargain. We have a tiny little thrift store in our tiny little town nearby and the guy does the same, "fifty cents, two fifty, 4.00...and ...let's just make it 5 even". I never know when he's going to charge me something or not. (He didn't charge me for the Reader's Digest books, I think he was amazed anyone would want them...I do want them, but not to read, I use the book cover...lovely art and makes the perfect mini canvas!)
