A Very Retro Christmas!

You know that Glenn has been on a retro decorating kick for our townhouse. That has overflowed over to Christmas decorating, too. So I've been searching through thrift stores for the last few weeks to see what I could find. We talked about how both of our grandmothers had the silver aluminum Christmas trees with the rotating colored light wheels -- anyone else remember those? Well, they weren't in our budget so we got a white one instead. It's a very untraditional pink, blue, green, and gold. Many of the balls and the blue tinsel are old.

These two little cuties are sitting on a tray full of glass balls on our dining table. I just love the fawn! And look at the ornament behind the snowman. See the planet & constellations? Isn't that funny? I'm guessing this is maybe from the late 50s or early 60s. This tiny little fawn is on my glass cake stand in the middle of the tray. I just realized I only took close ups & not a photo of the whole thing. Lauren thinks it's too overwhelming. I may get out our old Advent wreath and replace it. ;-)

These are all from thrift stores, too. The balls are satin.

The funny snowman is hanging in the middle of our photo gallery going up our stairs. I love hanging decorations and not telling anyone. Everyone's always surprised when they get home! But some things go for a while without being noticed... this was one of them.

And this little elf was too cute to pass up. He's hanging on my Scrabble collage in the upstairs hall.

One more thing... a felt, rick rack, sequin crafty door hanger!

Looks like you are really in the Christmas spirit now that Thanksgiving day has passed.

Love your christmas decorations. I have a white tree this year but with family things happening I haven't had a chance to get it out. Maybe on the weekend.

http://www.RetroXmas.com sells the Christmas Decorations that were popular in the 60's and 70's. Remember the "Jointed Snowman and Santa?" Very cool!
