Earthquake!!!

Finally, an earthquake that we could feel! :-) At 8:40 last night there was a 4.2 earthquake centered 1 mile northeast of Lafayette. Which means it was only 6 miles from us. Glenn was at church so he was much closer (probably within a couple of miles). He was just leaving choir practice and said they heard the church shaking but didn't feel the ground move. I believe he was right outside the church on the sidewalk.

Jordann and I were at home and upstairs and we felt it a lot more! I was laying on the bed watching Andy Griffith with the cat at my feet. I was about to slip off to sleep when I felt the bed shaking. At first I thought it was the cat scratching. I was about to yell at her but it kept getting stronger. More like a golden retriever scratching on the bed. I sat up and realized it wasn't the cat, and Jordann was in the tub. Then I thought there was someone in the house running up the stairs. I think that thought scared me more than the earthquake. LOL...

It only lasted about 10-15 seconds. Nothing even fell off our shelves here. Lauren was at small group at a house close to the church. She said things fell off their shelves and their pictures were crooked. Imagine 10-12 teenage girls in your house screaming. :-)

There were several aftershocks but we couldn't feel any of those. Too bad Grandma & Grandpa didn't get those cheap airline tickets for this week! FYI, they're still expecting more so maybe there'll be another when y'all come. We'll try to include that on the agenda for your visit. he he he

Man, I would not have wanted to be where Lauren was!!! : )

After our D-now weekend, our youth pastor said he knew for sure that 7th grade girls (17 of them at his house!) were not in heaven because there is a verse, can't remember the where, that says the heavens were silent for a moment. So he concluded there couldn't be 7th grade girls there.

You call that an earthquake? It barely showed on the map. Glad I wasn't there.
