Crocheted Scarves !!!

Back in the fall Lauren went on a girls' retreat with our church. Several of the girls brought their knitting. Seems that knitting is the cool thing right now. So she bought yarn and knitting needles and they taught her while there -- or at least TRIED to teach her. Then she came home and TRIED to teach us. Remember, we TRIED to learn on our own a couple of years ago. I started a scarf and kept on going until I ran out of yarn, but I never learned how to stop! LOL Well, this year we learned how to stop! So I finished my scarf, but it looked REALLY bad. I ripped it out. Then I knit a new one. It's nice and fluffy with a textured yarn so you can't see all the problems. :-)

Close up... thanks to my NEW Kodak!
So, from this experience I learned this: I am a crocheter! I CAN knit, but I would much rather crochet. While looking for crochet patterns online I found a lot of crochet blogs! They inspired me to photo & blog my new creations. So here they are:

I loved this yarn! It's Moda Dea Aerie in coral, I think. All V-stitch. It was fast & easy. And at the close-up my camera took! Wow... this was just what I was looking for in my new camera.

OK, next scarf. Last fall I had made Lauren a long, skinny scarf and Jordann wanted one, too. Well, of course, I couldn't make them the same so I used the same idea but jazzed it up just a little. Here's Jordann's scarf all made from 'cheap Wal-Mart' yarn -- Red Heart and Caron Simply Soft. Double crochet chevron stitch.

Here's Lauren's. Made last fall and worn a lot. It fits her personality. I almost made it too long, though. She can wrap it around her neck a couple of times & it still comes down to her waist!

Here's what I did on the plane on the way back from Texas. It's also made from Caron Simply Soft. Not my favorite, but I just wanted to prove to myself that I could make it!

I learned to knit by reading the instructions in the Book of Knowledge!

Awesome close-ups!!! I like the fluffy scarves, too! Made any more hats? I'm impressed by the white one, but I'd probably get ketshup on it!
