One World One Heart Giveaway

I'm participating in the One World One Heart Giveaway this year. I've decided to give away some Valentine tags & envelopes that I've made. So far I have three but I know I have more upstairs that I'm going to pull out and photograph later. It's just a little too dark to do it now.
So, to win my Valentine's all you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post. (If you're reading this on my Facebook account you'll need to come over to my blog to leave the comment.) On February 15 I'll use a random number generator to choose my winner. You can be anywhere in the world and you don't have to have your own blog or have a giveaway of your own.
There will be a LOT more blogs giving things away. Click on the button below to see them. Have fun & hope you make some new blog friends.

NOTE: More Valentines have been added to this giveaway! See photos of them on this post.

New Year's Update & Valentines

I'm doing good on my "no soda" resolution that I was assigned to by Jordann. :-) I only drank about a half of a can the other day of a Diet Dr. Pepper that I had leftover. I'm also doing very well on another resolution that I made a couple of years ago and re-resolved this year - Eat Chocolate Every Day! One of the new things I'm doing at work is a vitamin scan and some nutritional counseling. So I've been reading a lot about antioxidants and keep finding more info about dark chocolate. It's high in antioxidants and studies have shown that it reduces blood pressure and may help prevent heart disease and cancer. Just don't eat it with milk... that interferes with the absorption of the antioxidants. But it is high in calories so don't replace your veggies with dark chocolate! My favorite dark chocolate bar is the Trader Joe's 72% cacao bar. Mmmmmmm..... I did buy one of the 86% cacao bars, too. Not as sweet, but good.
I've also listed a few Valentine items in my Etsy shop.

Happy Valentine's Day Biscuits

Jordi's been leaving hints for the last two weeks that she wanted biscuits.  She even tore a recipe out of Better Homes & Gardens and stuck it on the fridge.  So I got up before her this morning and made heart-shaped biscuits for her.

We had her other favorite breakfast food, too -- sausage.  I should have made them heart shaped too so they'd fit better on the biscuits.  But they were still good.  Then I had one with honey.   Mmmmmmmmmm..... buttermilk biscuits smell good cooking!  I rolled up the scraps and cut them into squares so I didn't waste any.
They're not as pretty, but they'll still taste yummy.  I may freeze some so Jo can pull them out & microwave them before school.  Seems like I read somewhere online about a mom that made sausage biscuits on the weekend and put them in the freezer.  I may try that.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Introducing My Design Team

I've thought about this for a while & finally did it -- I started a design team.  I have 6 people on my design team right now.  Every other month I'm going to send them a package of supplies from my Etsy shop and let them create whatever they want with them.  I'll post photos & links to their blogs/shops here so you can go learn more about them.  Hopefully, this will inspire the creativity in all of us!

My first DT member is Kath from Out On A Whim Studio.  She used images from my Vintage Valentine Postcard Collage Sheet.  These are on sale this week for only $1.00 in my Etsy shop.

She filled these boxes with crafting supplies and listed them in her Etsy shop.  Actually, she has FOUR Etsy shops.  I don't know how she does it!  So, if you like shabby chic, primitives, or a more retro look, Kath has an Etsy shop for you!

Hopefully soon you'll meet the other members of my design team.  They're not all professional artists like Kath.  We'll have a couple of other ladies with Etsy shops, a college student, high school student's art class projects, and a young mom & maybe even her toddlers!  :-)  So you'll get a wide variety of styles.  If you're on the team, I'm mailing out the packages in the next couple of days so look for them next week!

Almost February!

I got out some Valentine decorations this week.  The silver vase has one of my Love in Many Languages circles & blank pink tickets tied to it with a piece of red seam binding.
I love my vintage Valentine postcards!  The red & green books are still out from Christmas but they went well with my cards.
And here is a little banner I made with the Love in Many Languages circles & pink tickets.  More red seam binding, too.
This last picture's for Mark, who said Lauren has big eyes!  :-)

Vintagey Valentines

I'm not sure if "vintagey" is even a word, but it seemed to describe these well.  I made these this morning with my Vintage Loving Couples Collage Sheet.  I printed the photos on cream cardstock.   The first one I glued to one of my little envelopes.  Then added a stamp & some other embellishments.  The collage sheet & envelopes are both included in my $1.00 sale this month.  I may add a little love note inside & stick it in Glenn's lunch before V-Day.
The second is on another kraft envelope, this one a little larger.  And the third is a little tag.
No, none of the people in these photos are my relatives.  I have some very nice couple photos of family members but I felt a little funny selling my relatives on Etsy!  :-)

Thinking About Valentines!

Thought I'd share some photos of Valentine magnets that I made and listed in my Etsy shop.  The two below are part of my oNe DollAr SaLe!  :-)
Now I'm off to cuddle up under a blanket with a bowl of soup & cup of hot tea and watch a DVD of Psych!  I talked too much today and don't have any voice left.  No choir for me tonight.

Shopping & Valentines

Wow! Y'all should have been shopping with me today. I didn't have to work and was really needing some clothes for work & church. So I dropped off Jordann at school and went to Kohl's. I'd seen some Skechers on sale there like the ones SE bought when we were in TX. They didn't have any in my size but they did have some black ones in the clearance section for $21! Then I found some pants for $8 and shirts for $2-6!!! I have some new outfits now. Then I got a haircut & went to the post office, library, Blockbuster, K-Mart, and drug store. Busy! I finished up some Valentines. Can't tell you who's getting them yet -- they may read this blog.

I finally got a picture up in the bathroom, too. In trying to make it more modern & masculine, here's what I came up with. Glenn liked it.

Happy Birthday, Lauren & Craft Day

Lauren celebrated her 17th birthday by going to softball tryouts. Then she had a nap. Here's sleepy Lauren:

I asked what meal she wanted and she picked cornbread and beans! Glenn brought her flowers, a balloon, and chocolates. Here's funny Lauren:

In the last few weeks she's forgotten her cell phone a couple of times and locked herself out of the house so here's what I got her:

I also got her a travel bag for her bathroom stuff when she goes to college. Here's silly Lauren:

Today was also Super Tuesday (did you vote?) and Marti Gras. Jordann's history class is studying the south so they had a New Orleans meal today. I made jambalaya for the class. Later this morning Karen, Roxanne, and Linda came over for our first craft day. Karen worked on her scrapbooks, Linda made some valentines, and Roxanne made a collaged spoon like the ones I've made before . Here's a peek at what I made today.

This last one's my version of the first project in Sweet Bella.

A Valentine Giveaway

Photobucket

Yay! It's another bloggy giveaway! I made some more Valentine's magnets yesterday (using some of the fun goodies we bought in Berkeley last week) and for this I'm giving away the one in the first photo. It's a mini-collage on a vintage poker chip. If you'd like to win this just leave a comment on this post. I'll draw a name on Sunday after the Super Bowl. If you want to try to win something else go over to this blog... there are over 800 blogs giving things away!!! Have fun!

These others are going in my Etsy shop.

This last one is a pendant. Think I'll keep it.

Getting closer...

...to figuring out how to do my banner. See my new Valentine banner? I made it myself and it almost fits. ;-) These are some paper flowers I made for Valentine's Day. I listed some kits in my Etsy paper store. I also have some kits with the Scrabble letters. And stay tuned for more -- I have more Valentine/love crafty supplies that I need to clear out.

I got this cute postcard in a vintage paper swap that I was part of. I haven't done any swaps since before Christmas. Just haven't had time with work & the house & the kids.

Gotta go... my clothes are dry, then I have to pick up the girls from school and softball practice!
